A conference pear may be the most common pear in the UK but it is delicious and a September fruit that lasts into October, pear-tastic! A Conference pear is an autumnal variety of pear, developed in Britain by Thomas Francis Rivers from his Rivers Nursery in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. Its was name post the National British Pear Conference in London in 1885, where it won first prize! We love it!

What a memorable evening with members of @bcrpm.bsky.social, many thanks to Ambassador Tsaousis and his industrious team, all the speakers and moderators. The film clips and photos were very moving. George was a brave person, one whose legacy will live on forever.

The Poet's Wife, is a rose shrub of David Austin that has amazing blooms, scented and loved by bees. The wonderfully rich fragrance with a hint of lemon, becomes sweeter and stronger as the roses age and their petals grow paler. Delightful.
