I like this review of my book by Eric Snyder a lot. It's at times very critical -- and I don't always agree with the criticism -- but ultimately in a constructive way, pointing out ways forward. Isn't that what academic philosophy should be all about?

How to Recognize Artificial Mathematical Intelligence in Theorem Proving - Topoi
One key question in the philosophy of artificial intelligence (AI) concerns how we can recognize artificial systems as intelligent. To make the general question more manageable, I focus on a particula...

Intelligence is not deception: from the Turing test to community-based ascriptions - AI & SOCIETY
The Turing test has a peculiar status in the artificial intelligence (AI) research community. On the one hand, it is presented as an important topic in virtually every AI textbook, and the research di...

In the new "clean" FIFA, voting doesn't need to be rigged. They just rig the application process so that there's only one candidate to vote for. It's a much more efficient and reliable mode of corruption. #fifa #worldcup #football

Don't get fooled by views like this, it's another case of creating polarization that's just not there. Carefully considered AI skepticism is badly needed, including sober analyses like those by Marcus. But pieces like this make AI skeptics sound like uninformed Luddites.

One of the most important debates in tech right now is the group of folks who think AI is fake and sucks vs. the people who think AI is real and dangerous. I wrote about why I'm in the latter camp, and talked about my differences with Gary Marcus www.platformer.news/ai-skeptics-...

Happy Independence Day to Finland! Following the Finnish media and discussion on social media, one could get the impression that the country is in terrible shape. But while there are reasons to be cautious, and some of the recent political developments are worrying, there's still a lot to celebrate!
