In the Times Higher Education Ranking, the University of Vienna @univie.ac.at is in the top 100 (95th place) for the first time! And guess where “History, Theology, and Philosophy” are ranked: 23rd place!

That is more than true, and I long for the day when this madness is over.

This is one of the happiest moments in my career - the first volume of the Epigraphical Commentary on the New Testament in print, written by my dear friend Julien Ogereau.

The 1st vol. of the “Epigraphical Commentary on the New Testament” by Julien Ogereau on 1st Thessalonians will be published this August. This is a huge step forward in the integration of epigraphic sources into New Testament research!

What role do Greek inscriptions play in the New Testament? I did a little research on this: doi.org/10.1628/ec-2... and doi.org/10.3390/rel1... I will be giving a presentation at the upcoming SNTS conference: “Well-being, justice, and faithfulness—Romans 1:16f. from the perspective of inscriptions.”

For anyone interested in economics in the Bible and ancient times, this is a truly great anthology. I was given free rein to let my creative imagination run wild with the First Epistle to Timothy, and I'm quite proud of the result.

We saw it recently on our trip to Rome – an impressive mosaic, maybe even late 4th cent.! It was partially destroyed during a renovation in the 16th cent. and rather speculatively restored. We had only received access when we called – however, the “tour” was a bit tedious, but certainly worth it.

With apologies to my followers, I will not be posting about the absolutely terrible things that happened today. Instead, here is a photo of a winter landscape in Austria.
