Only 8,500-some total votes in an election that determined the majority in Minnesota’s upper house? Yes, a special election in the dead of winter, but yikes. Almost 44,000 votes cast in 2020.

As to your last point, I’m a Minnesotan with in-laws in North Dakota and friends in Iowa. I’ve come to believe the prairie has its own beauty. Nothing like purple mountain majesties, to be sure, but a simple beauty all its own.
