I filed my taxes yesterday and received word the return was accepted. Today comes news that 6000 IRS employees are being fired. Now I’m worried that my return will be delayed or, worse, wind up in Musk’s pocket.

I just want to give an update on what’s going on with me. Last week, I completed the final edits on my latest short story, “South Texas Girl,” and sent them to the editor. The story will appear in “Cryin’ Shame, Crime Stories Inspired by the Songs of Lyle Lovett,” edited by Josh Pachter.
