This is just an unthinkably bad defensive possession from Nesmith and Nembhard. Completely undoing all of the good they have done in this series and gifting OKC a game that it had no business winning. Conceding the switch is bad enough, but the hard show at the nail is foolish (and they do it twice)

Carlisle sticking with Obi Toppin a minute or two longer than you'd expect in crunch time was such a big call as well, and it paid off in spectacular fashion. This sequence here with a defensive rebound, putback dunk and block on Jalen Williams was massive.

Russell Westbrook played 20 minutes in Game 5, his lowest total of the series. He scored just four points and made just one of his seven attempts. All series lows. He only played 1:50 in the fourth quarter. Check out where he was on the bench during crunch time.

Sometimes your whole season can come down to one rotation. I know Dort had made a few in the fourth, but Gordon sprinting to him here was lethal. He has to know Jokic will not have his back on the baseline rotation. Have to live with Dort beating you.

It's just insane to put this lineup on the floor in crunch time and also employ a scheme that commits four defenders to packing the paint on Edwards. What makes things worse about Redick going small is that it gives Minny an excuse to get Gobert off the floor AND play a MUCH better small ball unit.

I think the main thing is that All-Star festivities now share too much in common with any game. In the 90s, a dunk or 3-point contest was a departure from the drab proceedings during games. That was the only time players had carte blanche to launch 3s or enough of a runway to pull off a sick dunk.
