It's interesting that the goddesses flooded the land based on prayers alone (and wasn't just a metaphor), also the part with the king (according to the fandom wiki) is that he was actually alive in TWW, placed in a seal

Shiek is a character full of regret, but they are subtly hinting at the player to not give up like they have. And it also serves as foreshadowing! At the end after Shiek reveals they are Zelda, Zelda gives Link back his lost time, she gives Link a second chance at life knowing she cannot do the same

In The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Shiek always has something profound to tell the player. They talk as if life is cyclical, *yet* meaningful. They also talk as if that meaning has been stripped from their own life.
