I used to self host gitlab. It is even easier now as it is just a docker image. But maintenance and DR was always a bother, so off to github it was.

I started out in the late 70s when IBM provided the centralized 'timeshare' servers everyone depended on. The argument for centralization is a myth of reduced cost and a reality of super expensive metered services and shared SPF risk.

Last time I used CVS was in the mid 80s, and that was as far from WW2 as the mid 80's is from now.

Not only women, black people, hispanic people, people from all ethnicities are represented in our goon squads. But yes, the vast majority are likely white men.

Most of us are ignoring what is going on, going about their daily lives, working and consuming, and if they are even aware, hoping if they behave it won’t affect them.
A few of us are out on the streets getting in the way. Not nearly enough.
But we are all very much a part of this system.
