Human, father (2x), husband, ally, diagnostic medical physicist, Chicagoan, terrible speller. (He/Him)
On international medical physicist's day I got to play with a cool new toy to show hot spots of radiation. I used it for a shielding integrity test and was able to see the pass through for a laser (or med gas) from a Tc99m source out into the corridor. Pretty neat technology on the M3D Ravin camera.

Great, they should also work with other states on picking up that moderna bird flu contract.

Great art exhibit using X-rays at the Chicago Museum of a science and Industry. It includes a shout out to Medical Physicist Edith Quimby!

At #AAPM2025 presidential symposium, Sudip Parikh talks about the impacts of proposed science budget cuts under Trump admin and why we, as scientists, need to come together now - and moving forward- to advocate for science and its benefits.

Tonight's entry into the "will the kids eat it" extravaganza is: lamb burgers with feta, mint, parsley and chard. Will they eat it?

Pelican cases sure can be fun to fill. I didn't think I had it in me to be this neat 😁

First anatomical models print on our new 3D printer at Rush Radiology. Looking forward to building this program and staffing it. My least favorite part was removing all the structural supports.

Been a minute since some night time angio testing, but needs must. This room is back to back to back during the day.

For those itching to see... Here's a VRT of my CT scan of the 3D printed test object. Planning to scan it after the cure, and after supports removed as well.

Just gave our first 3D printed test object a CT scan 😁. Used ultra high res mode on our PCCT so will be able to assess printing fidelity at 200 microns.

Ready for a day of CT Acceptance testing fun 😊

Our second(!) Naeotom Alpha shown here, fresh from Germany and awaiting install at Rush's forthcoming North & Harlem location.

Some dark updates. I hate this timeline.

The switch to IT contractors for @aapmhq.bsky.social isn't building a lot of confidence in this member. Not a great look for the site to be down when reviews for abstract submissions to the annual meeting are due.

Great guest piece from @chrislhayes.bsky.social in the NYT on boredom and the attention economy we find ourselves in.

The demise of Twitter was good for me. Much less time on my phone. I'm trying to be mindful with my Bluesky time, but it's easy to fall back.

Stopped by RUSH this morning to work with IR and an AR vendor (MediView) on trialing a workflow to visualize anatomy and tumors in AR to guide ablations. A fun detour before returning to RSNA.
