“the recognition that moral virtue and a steadfast faith in God are necessary preconditions of freedom” was so important to the founders of our nation that the words “virtue” & “faith” do not appear in the Declaration of Independence or Constitution. Nor does Christianity. But “liberty” & “law” do.
