2 months ago, i found a ficus or Moreton Bay fig that was growing in giant stump for years. Recently, the stump disintegrated, so ficus was left laying on the ground for months. It was also easy to collect. Got up early this morning to reduce root ball & chop the […]

A ficus laying on it's side with the root ball showing it's underside after large cuts have been made to the larger coarse roots. A pruning saw and pair of garden snips are on top of the root ball. The ficus now upright on a green plastic crate showing the likely front. Likely front view of trunk base and nebari surface roots now planted in the wooden crate. This is how it looked when I repotted spring 2024. It had 2 long thick leaders which I'm sure helped the base thicken. Then I chose them to be sacrifice leaders and used the thin one a s the new leader.

So far, "trust the process" seems to have worked out for the Taupata.
