Put some tasty UFO and IGY reading under your Christmas tree this year! Link to my website www.markoconnell.info to see where to buy my two books. I'd prefer you buy them at your local indie bookstore, but chain stores are fine too!

Today, December 6th, is my birthday! On this day I was "reborn" after surviving my bone marrow transplant and restaging my immune system. I have endless gratitude to all the family, friends, nurses and doctors who got me through it all. To celebrate I went out on a donut run!

I had a great time this weekend at the Wisconsin Book Festival talking about my new book, "The Year Science Changed Everything." Thanks to everyone at UW-Madison and the National Science Foundation's US Ice Drilling Program for making this possible!

Today marks 15 years of marriage with this beautiful soul. How did I get so lucky?

This 4th of July seemed like a good day for Monica & me to tour the beautiful grounds of the Carter Center here in Atlanta and pay our respects to one of the most decent, honorable and admirable presidents we've ever had.

Lately I've been preoccupied with my second book "The Year Science Changed Everything," so it was nice to see my first book at the local bookstore yesterday, displayed "cover out"!

I'm psyched that I'll be giving a talk about my new book "The Year Science Changed Everything" at the Wisconsin Book Festival/Science Festival in Madison this October. I did this event when my first book came out and I loved it--the second time should be twice as fun!

I recently did a fun interview about my new book, "The Year Science Changed Everything," with the ever-inspiring Beth Mund for her Casual Space podcast. We covered a lot of ground and had a lot of fun, and I can't wait for our talk to get posted!

More library news: My daughter-in-law Claire is friends with Siobhan, a librarian at the Barrington, RI Public Library, and Siobhan has already got my book in her library's collection.
And it's already been checked out! Thank you Claire and Siobhan!

I hung out on the porch for two evenings with this beautiful Luna moth. It's supposed to signal a spiritual rebirth or awakening, and you know what? I'm up for it.

After three days the reviews for my book "The Year Science Changed Everything" are starting to come in. My favorite critique so far is "I ought to hate it, but I do not."

Donating a copy of "The Year Science Changed Everything" to my local library. My mom was a librarian and often took me along during her shift. I always made a bee line for the science, space, sci-fi and paranormal books, & look at me now!

After all this waiting, my book "The Year Science Changed Everything" finally arrives in bookstores tomorrow 5/6/25!
I couldn't have guessed that by the time the book arrived in bookstores science itself might be close to being outlawed.

1/ I signed a contract to write "The Year Science Changed Everything: 1957's International Geophysical Year and the Future of Our Planet" way back in August 2023 and now I'm down to two weeks to publication!

So I got copies of my new book and got thru the painful first reading where every little thing seems to be wrong. Now I'm on to the second, pleasurable read, where everything seems just right. Next time I write a book I should just skip the first reading.

1/ I needed a boost today and I just spotted this review of my Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Who Mourns for Morn?" that did the trick:
"'Who Mourns for Morn' is the Strangest Episode I’ve Seen" the review begins a bit unsteadily. But then...
