Stunned to receive the National Diversity Award for Positive Role Model for Race, Religion & Faith! Especially poignant given that the venue, Liverpool Cathedral, not only backs onto Europe’s oldest #Chinatown but because this is where my grandparents arrived in the UK as migrants over 100 years ago

I don’t fancy shelling out for a new tuxedo for the #NationalDiversityAwards this week, so I’m dusting off my wedding suit and hoping it still fits.

[Update]: It no longer fits—much to my children’s amusement. I can’t imagine how it’s become so tight, but £10 an inch seems fair!

Some thoughts on home education in this week's
ChurchTimes. Hoping @churchofengland.org sees the importance of welcoming home-educating families as a vital part of our life & mission.

Just sent my chapter to the publisher for an upcoming volume on whether AI can truly love. I’m especially thrilled because it revolves around ‘NieR: Automata’—a haunting Japanese masterpiece where androids fight, suffer, remember, and—perhaps—love.

As someone who didn’t hit their A-level targets, I want to say this: I know it may not feel like it right now, but your grades don’t define you. They’re not the full story of who you are or what you can become. Your value is not a piece of paper. #ALevelResultsDay

Lovely reflection from @marknam.bsky.social here for St Paul's Cathedral - one of the fab contributors to Chinese Heritage in British Christianity, which we published in February.

Just seen the June schedule for St Paul’s Cathedral—and there’s St John’s, Woodley! I’m deeply honoured to be preaching at Choral Evensong on Trinity Sunday (15 June).
A humbling invitation. All welcome at 3pm.

I’ve been nominated for a National Diversity Award in the category of Positive Role Model for Race, Religion & Faith — which feels a bit surreal, but I’m really honoured. Nominees have a page where votes are recorded. Family/friends, please hit it up www.nationaldiversityawards.co.uk/awards-2025/...

Such a joy to be part of the Diocese of Norwich Headteachers’ Conference today in the stunning grounds of Norwich Cathedral. We explored big questions—juxtaposing Jürgen Moltmann and Kazoh Kitamori to rethink the theological roots of how we approach social justice in our schools and academies.

Clergy friends, SOS: speaking at Norwich Cathedral tomorrow, forgot my dog collar, and I’m stuck in a Premier Inn. Can I fashion one from a tea towel? A communion wafer? Sheer panic? Help a vicar!

Found a ‘Vicar of Dibley’ stamp outside my church today. A sign? A test? A divine jest! Who left it—an angel, a trickster, or the Almighty’s own sense of humour? @Dawn_French, is this your doing? Or is God simply reminding me that theology is best served with a laugh? @oxforddiocese.bsky.social

Discovered this lead-pencil drawing in the church cottage this evening, whilst rooting around. Found it amongst some parish magazines from 1948, but likely drawn earlier. What should I do with this type of paraphernalia? @oxforddiocese.bsky.social

Lord Boateng & Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin speaking on Liturgy & Racial Justice @GeneralSynod calling for action. My wife and I have been appealing for @churchofengland.org to recognise Florence Li Tim-Oi for 2 years! Please taken action and support this petition. www.change.org/p/appeal-for...

First time at 10 Downing Street today. Spotted Larry the Cat, looking like he runs the place. Standing at the heart of government, my thoughts were with those at General Synod carrying the weight of decisions that shape our national church. Maybe we need a cat too.

Shared this photo of my mother—when she was just 21—and my grandmother last year. Still puts a smile on my face and a tear in my eye, as she never got to see me reach 21. @oxforddiocese.bsky.social

Opened the last of my birthday cards today. Didn’t think things could get any more surreal than a clerical-collar wearing hedgehog, until I opened the last of my mail. Not a birthday card per se, but close enough! Looking forward to visiting 10 Downing Street soon. @oxforddiocese.bsky.social

A little glimpse behind the scenes in preparation for this week’s Church of England National Online Service. It was such a pleasure to welcome members of the Comms team to St. John’s, Woodley and see how everything all fits together.

Each week, I upload the weekly service for St. John’s, Woodley. One of my tasks is to take a photo for the thumbnail. This one is my favourite so far, ice-crystals taken from the inside of my car with the church in the background. It's stuff like this that keeps things interesting!
