I think my favorite part was that the original gerrymandered maps (from what like 10-15 years ago (?)) were ruled unconstitutional, but they were like “well, we can’t make new ones, so we’ll just use these unconstitutional ones until we figure out a way to make it worse.”

I went to Taiwan this summer and almost wept at the idea of being able to get to Raleigh to DC in like an hour via train. And they built it all while we’ve just bee been forming and failing committees the last 30 years I’ve lived in the Southeast. 🥲🥲🥲

And if you live south of DC like me, you’re toast because of the decades of MUH TAX DOLLARS JUST BUILD MORE ROADS knuckle-dragging constituency who would just rather plant things like a Buc-ee’s in every town and worship golden calves.

I feel it’s got far less to do with coddling and much more with the overall destruction of creativity, curiosity and the extinction of media literacy. Nobody is being coddled when no one can afford rent or health insurance.
