Governor JB Pritzker is in East St Louis criticizing President Trump’s cuts to SNAP. He slams tariffs as “a tax on us.” Rev. Gary Gaston opens the panel discussion telling Pritzker, “We need a president like you.”

St. Louis has a new alderwoman-elect. Jami Cox Antwi walks away with an easy win.

Jami Cox Antwi — 55%
Shedrick Kelley — 18%
Jim Dallas — 14%
Alecia Hoyt — 10%
Cam McCarty — 2%
July 2, 2025 at 1:09 AM
The absentee vote totals are counted in the 8th Ward. Jami Cox Antwi leads the pack with 49% of that batch of votes. Shedrick Kelley a distant second with 22%. Long way to go here. Decent turnout at the polls today and those votes aren’t represented here.

This free reputation counseling comes from a guy who’s holding hospitalized detainees hostage until the Board of Aldermen stuffs more money into his budget. He spends tens of thousands on golf carts but feels the responsibilities of the job have become a drain on taxpayers.

Sure, this job can be demanding—but consider the perks. Where else could you get free reputation management advice from Sheriff Alfred Montgomery?

It’s quite telling when politicians feel “targeted” when you tell the public the truth about what they’ve done in private.
May 30, 2025 at 1:23 PM
St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery is ordering deputies to sign this vaguely worded loyalty oath which threatens them with termination if any of them “gossip,” engage in “rumor,” or leak accurate information to the press or public.

As you can see, the crackdown is not exactly working.

My parents, both in their 60s, spent all day Friday stopping at every big box store they could to buy up enough supplies to fill this van. Then, they drove from Chicago to deliver tarps, tents, food and supplies to my St. Louis neighbors in need. We need more people like them.

We obtained a copy of the letter several garbage truck drivers received notifying them to appear at a disciplinary hearing last week to explain why they didn’t show up to work on Wednesday, January 8. That’s typically their scheduled day off. But it came after 1.5 snow days.

I get a lot of political yard sign pictures and ideas sent my way. This one I had to go see for myself. Sure enough, a voter in the Shaw neighborhood printed out a tweet referencing some of the Mayor’s text messages that her office disclosed to us in an open records request.

In an email to the Board of Aldermen, St. Louis Department of Streets Director Betherny Williams claims city workers lied to her about salting and clearing snow and ice from “secondary” streets and hill routes. She says those workers may face disciplinary action.
