Sort of. I look for common accolades/issues across various reviews to get an idea. But my personal tastes are so far off from the current trends in gaming that I don't worry about scores much.

Some people just lack any sense of subtlety. If a game does something they don't like, they immediately say its "trash" or "terrible". It's a combination of tribal behavior and entitlement, I suspect.
