It's not okay to mix the cases of Nawalny and Assange. This Whataboutism is misleading. Both, Nawalny and Assange are honorable for their fights. Mixing them diminishes the value and purpose of their struggles.

Nawalny fought against an authoritarian, repressive regime. He was assasinated by the leaders of this regime. But Nawalny never fought for free speech.

Assange fights for the freedom of the press in a democratic world. This is an incredible important, if not the most important fight of all. Leaking and publishing the criminal activies of a democratic state is essential. Making this a criminal offense means silencing journalism and free speech.
