Today, we mark the passing of Jane Goodall. A trailblazer in so many ways and someone for whom I have always had the greatest admiration. A tower of strength and an inspiration to many, her tenacious and unwavering commitment to science education and the environment was formidable. RIP Dr Goodall.

1/8 Scraping the rights barrel

Many of us involved in publishing use WeTransfer. The files that we need to move from person to person are often huge pre-print PDFs, containing a lot of imagery … and often a lot of comments! And there are usually many of these files in a single project.

It is a privilege to have been judging on this year’s Young Science Writer Award run by the Association of British Science Writers.

As a writer, I depend on what I create to make my living. Allowing Meta to use my intellectual property from illegally copied online materials is theft.
