It seems to me more of a cultural challenge than a technological one—would you allow your utility to control your thermostat? Under what conditions? Meeting consent and preference of customers is key. 5/x

Utilities being able to perform demand response will be a key part of maintaining grid stability. There is a huge amount of work utilities need to do in order to build trust with customers before this can happen 4/x

Building nuclear reactors in place of coal plants will cut construction costs (as they can use the existing infrastructure) and revitalize coal-dependent communities.

It’s unreasonable for residential customers to pay for new generation that will be consumed by datacenters since they will not experience much economic benefit. Regulators need to allocate these costs appropriately, and/or data centers can co-locate with generation to minimize transmission costs 2/x
