There are at least two problems with publishing a newsletter every week for 10 years: (1) readers say it's getting stale and stop opening it and say you should switch things up, (2) if you switch things up, readers say why are you changing and unsubscribe.

Really impressive article by Helen Lewis in The Atlantic about Lucy Calkins, Emily Hanford, and the reading wars. Well-written, with tons of compassion.

I’m an educator, not a lawyer, but I used to like reading Supreme Court decisions because they sort of made sense as arguments with real reasoning. Now it seems like the Court does whatever it wants to.
