My last read of the year was The Sinner and the Saint by Kevin Birmingham, a partial biography of Dostoevsky focused on the events and experiences that influenced Crime and Punishment, which will likely be my first (re)read of 2025 📚👍

A FEW WORDS ON NATURAL BEAUTY
for the occasion

It is undoubtedly strange, but I
find more than enough beauty in crushed
and withered grass, in a barren
field of rock, in moss on a stone,
in dooryard dock reaching up from
burnt soil. The mountains need not
be soaring, the sea need
not always be blue, and the trees,
though nice, are not indispensable.
And there can be rain, and wind,
and whatever else the everyday
cares to bring with it.

I created this image almost 7 years ago from a photo I took of Perlan in Reykjavík, in mid-October. It just has a photoshop filter applied, but I always liked how it turned out. #Iceland 🇮🇸
