Might Brexit, by any teensy-weensy chance, have anything to do with 'the dire state of the financial sector'? And won't investors of all types flee from UK if Reform ever get into power? Just asking....

"Lies" or "fantasies" would be better words. But unlike with Brexit, this time Farage was called out and had to back down.

Just back from Italy. Italian town centres still have small indy shops. Why? Maybe 'cos they also have long-established, non-chain cafes/restaurant?. So despite online shopping, people still go into town. And 'cos Italians love quality food treats they can't get online or during supermarket shop?

Does #trenitalia think its customers want to see...a) as much beautiful view as possible OR b) a silly and pointless face sticker obscuring a third of the window space and occupying loads of peripheral vision ??

The Empress's old clothes? Where once Thatcher stood (metaphorically) tall - however much you/we hated her - now stands only fabric and air.

Ever occurred to the Tory 'leadership' that anti-migration dogma, ICE style clampdowns and tarnishing the UK's reputation by leaving the ECHR might not be good for a 'Stronger Economy'? #CPC25

This is mad as well as disgraceful. All economies need low-skill labour, Brits don't want to do it and without it things collapse. We also need integrated high-skill workers with a stable stake in the country, the chance to progress, become more productive, create growth that means jobs for others.

This is China the Guardian is talking about...UK and EU need to step up, not scale back, climate policies or miss out on green jobs and growth

Food price inflation in euro zone? 3.2% - too high. In UK? 5.1%...*way* too high. Brexit is making it harder for many to afford the weekly shop.

Every country has elite schools in some form, fee-paying or not, but UK cannot possibly realise its potential while this situation persists.

Best remark at the @ukandeu.bsky.social event in Brussels today...

@stellacreasy.bsky.social replied: 'I haven't grasped the possibilities of arson to deal with my untidy house, either', when asked for a response to Brexiteers saying UK had not fully grasped the possibilities of Brexit.
