Perhaps the greatest bad movie ever made. Thanks to the How Did This Get Made podcast for letting me know that a blu ray version exists. With a directors cut as well. I’m positively giddy to watch it.

I readily admit that as a kid I didn’t get Motörhead. They werent heavy or thrashy enough compared to the other stuff I was listening to. A little over a year ago someone said, think of Motörhead as punk and not metal and listen again. It clicked instantly. Now they are in regular rotation.

Easter ham gets a beautiful second life in some Cuban sandwiches. Pulled some pernil from the freezer for the roasted pork. My wife made the Cuban bread fresh today. It’s one of my top 5 sandwich types and today is no exception

Good Catholic* boy that I am it was a perfect day for some beer battered cod, homemade fries, and very non traditional mushy peas. Malt vinegar and tartar sauce for accompaniment. *haven’t been any religion for 35+ years but fish fry is always good.

After my mom passed last June my brother, daughter, and I all got tattoos to commemorate her life. My dad who has always been anti tattoo talked about getting one and we all kinda laughed. Never been happier to be wrong. I know it was emotional for him but I hope it helps him heal.

We were supposed to be In Charlotte for a few days but work got in the way so we made Bojangles at home. @kerriestrong.bsky.social made the biscuits. Topped with buttermilk brined chicken thighs and pimento cheese. Bojangles seasoned fries, and the @beerinator.com mandatory bugles for the cheese.

The best thing about Corned Beef and Cabbage for dinner Sunday is Reubens today. I’ll fire up the blackstone later but for now, it’s just meat slicing goodness.

Because I wanted to make some sort of venison stew but was out of potatoes and carrots, I went on the hunt for something new. And I found a new dish I’m in love with called Ghormeh Sabzi. Which is a Persian herb stew. Loads of fresh greens with the very necessary tartness of dried limes. Beautiful

I’m trying to ween myself off of meta products so you all get food pictures. These venison neck tacos were killer. Braised the meat with chilis, beef stock and beer. Pulled the meat and reduced the braising liquid with more seasonings. Tender and tasty

Yes this is a humblebrag/flex whatever, but it’s also the task I needed to accomplish in order to do any of the other mountain of tasks I needed to accomplish today. The basement bar and prep kitchen are reorganized and ready for service. Now I can clean up all the other stuff upstairs.

Some absolute units in the smelt selection this year. Can’t wait to fry them up tomorrow.
