We had dogs, but they only did so much, despite being really good watch dogs and herding dogs (with cattle).
Our .22 caliber rifles were at most categorized as “repeaters”. I don’t see any reason for semi or fully automatic weapons on farm.
Admittedly, we never had to worry about bears.

I would think that anyone on farm had livestock of any kind, a gun was/is pretty important to protect them.
We didn’t have guns to protect against people and, although my late Father hunted as a young man, he never hunted in my lifetime.

As a farm kid, I learned how to shoot a gun before I was 10, but it a BB gun, a pellet gun and maybe a .22 caliber rifle.

At -15ºC this morning, it is certainly colder than the average overnight low of -4ºC for Dec 13th & it has been far colder for the first half of December than usual.
However it would not entirely shock me if we still had a green Christmas like so we’ve had many of recent years.

This “dinosaur” is not the least bit concerned about the amount of snow we have.
Back in the Stone Age, when I was a kid, we used to get a LOT more snow than we have now.
We don’t have quite as much snow as 10 miles away, but they got 20” & the guy, older than I, living there had no issue with it.🤷♂️

Ah, but some chose leaders who the voters believed had the ideology to elevate those voters to the level they felt they deserved above those who they felt were less deserving because they were different in some way.
Some chose where we are, and some others did not make any choice, so here we are.
