Iowan. Running for local office.
The $2000 asset limit for many helpful and necessary programs like SSI and SNAP in Iowa are ridiculous. There's no way to even begin starting to save for a down payment. That won't even cover enough to pay for a minor injury. It's sad.

It doesn't help that it often feels like the national Dems have given up on Iowa also. Rough times.

It didn't work last year. It was the ONLY thing they ran on. I was waiting for them to combine it with ANY other issue and they didn't.

Yeah, I still haven't taken my daughter to tool around the area yet. It's going to be strange. We moved from Hartford, so I kind of imagine it trying to get closer to that size with the surrounding towns.

Oh cool! I grew up in Ankeny. Metro seems to be completely different since I moved away for 15 years to the East Coast.

Very true. Hopefully I can get in there this year if a spot is realistic. I'm newer to this town than most. What part of Iowa are you in?

I feel like an oddball nowadays because I'm an independent thinker and can't be tied down to a party.

I live in Mount Vernon. If one of the council members doesn't run again, I'll throw my name in. Local policy really fascinates me.

Yes!! Used to trek around there all the time in college...one of my favorite places. I always felt like I was walking in a different world.

The divide is only getting worse with the restrictions put in place this year regarding eligibility for SNAP and other assistance. For instance, no SNAP if you have over $2000 saved...not even enough to get through a month for most families. Impossible to save money to move up for so many.

Is that the woodsy area in the neighborhood by Emma McCarthy Lee park that goes out near North Dakota Ave?

And white people haven't made many advances with the gas mask. Here we are generations later.

Garrett Morgan has saved many lives.

That is certainly one way to look at it as well. Then I remember how I'm just better off with an omnivore diet. I guess I can only hope relying on my thoughts and experiences. I definitely can appreciate your point; top of the food chain burdens!

Being from the midwest, I've just come to terms and remember that the domesticated animals we consume would have had no life had it not been provided to us for food. I tend to purchase humanely treated animals from local farmers.

Real life and real world applications. I agree that we can learn more by revisiting tests, homework, etc. The recognition should be given to those who put forth the effort initially.

I can't afford to have my engineers doing trial and error projects until they get them correct.

Yeah, that'd be a terrible turn of events. I'm interested in seeing how some of these other studies turn out, like mushrooms for alcoholics and ketamine for depression.
