By eviscerating the Tory party in July 2024, did the British electorate commit an act of countryside?
I know nothing about music, but I love the noise it makes.
Very dapper!

Allegedly, Thames TV called the show Magpie because the format was largely stolen from Blue Peter.

Well, that's a sentence I didn't expect to read today, or indeed, ever.

Much like Jeffrey Archer, the carefully constructed lovable rogue shtick masks a deeply unpleasant, self-serving ruthlessness. Many, shall we say, "uncritical thinkers" didn't see it (or more likely just didn't care).

Little acropolis made of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same...

That's a new one to me. I associate ecclesiastical forgeries with the middle ages (Donation of Constantine, Spurious letter of Alexios Komnenos etc). I'm surprised to learn they were still being produced (and achieving their aims) in the early modern period.
As you say, cheeky.

Americans insist their MM-DD-YY nonsense is correct, but ask when is Independence Day and they'll all answer 4th July.

Oh, they will...

Is that a euphemism?

Enjoying the show this week. The journey to work was brightened by Florence Price, my favourite piano quintet (after the Dvořák) followed immediately by the tumultuous, triumphant overture to The Sicilian Vespers.👍

I absolutely agree with the No Kings sentiment, but ironically Trvmp is infinitely worse than George III on every level: personal, political and ethical.

With the honourable exception of the Saturday evening international drama, and the occasional music broadcast, original content is a thing of the past on BBC4.
You don't know what you've lost until it's gone.
