Drug use researchers (esp. those in neuro/pharmacology) - please stop using the word "abuse" (e.g., drug abuse) and other stigmatizing terms

This isn't an arbitrary suggestion, there's legitimate empirical evidence showing that words like this do harm

Our latest paper now available in HIV Medicine @bhiva.bsky.social examined mortality among people who inject drugs living with HIV in Scotland over a 20-year period and found increases over time, driven by a rise in drug-related deaths. OAT [again] was protective.
