Yes, two spaces after a period is an artifact from a typewriter. But still use them in raw unformatted text. Yes, computers can remove them if unwanted in the final format. But if wanted, they're much harder to re-add to sentence endings and not to things like name titles or abbreviations.

Not a top-ten fan-fave, but I've always liked this episode. As a kid I audio-recorded a dozen episodes and listened to them endlessly for years before the reruns got syndicated. I can still recite this one verbatim. "A ghost planet?" "I suggest no supernatural explanation, Captain..." 😉 🖖

Same bridge shows up in Toby Tyler, Follow Me Boys, Dukes of Hazzard, Greatest American Hero, Desperate Housewives, and many more. The Disney website says it "continues to be used by the ranch staff and production companies to this day."

I solved this by saving the background under each person in its restore buffer, drawing the person, then XORing its restore buffer. That way, "erasing" the drawn person wouldn't just blindly save/overwrite onto the background, it would XOR the drawn person away, and overlaps cleaned themselves up.

I once created the graphics for a game that had multiple little people running around on the screen simultaneously, but we had to code it for a single bitmapped screen memory (Apple ][). A normal "save" and "restore" under each person would've left bits of other people behind if they overlapped.

It might as well be: "Nice economy you have there. It'd be a shame if something were to HAPPEN to it..."

Card of the day: KNIGHT OF BLADES. The author Christan Nestell Bovee once wrote, “The method of the enterprising is to plan with audacity, and execute with vigor; to sketch out a map of possibilities, then to treat them as probabilities.”
