@maritimecomicguy.bsky.social
Comic book & graphic novel editor, writer, convention organizer (ECCE, Back Issues Comicon, Montreal Comiccon…), proud Canadian from Nova Scotia. You probably know me from Captain Canuck, True Patriot Presents or Sandstone Comics' Dark Coast.
Went to @backissuescomicon.bsky.social (I mean, I gotta since it’s my show) and it was great. Lots of people, happy vendors, cool crowd, special guests that I am so appreciative of. I saw some people buying some sweet books. I was busy but managed to pick these up.

Cleaned this book up and gave it a press. It’s not drastic, but it does look much better now.

Making a mess sorting through my show stock.
I’m heading to @elsicon2025 this Saturday the 23rd from 10 to 5 at the Chief Young Eagle Recreation Centre on the Elsipogtog First Nation. Going to be a beautiful weekend, come for a day trip.
I may even have a new project to talk about. Come find out!

Only bought a few comics on my trip. Still, I’m pretty okay with what I got.

Elsi-con is a local indigenous comic convention outside of Miramichi, NB. They are putting on their inaugural event on August 23rd. I’ll be there to help them out in whatever manner I’m able. Check it out here:

The 2025 edition of Montreal Comiccon started one week ago. I’ve had time to reflect on it. The trip was an adventure. Things were not entirely smooth, but I think we did something special there.
The show broke an attendance record, attendees, exhibitors & guests all had very nice things to say.

Was able to grab some signatures for a bunch of books this weekend. Also, it may have been as the show was closing and people were packing up, but I also managed to buy some comics.

Sorry, my photos from yesterday were minimal and mostly just my kids doing cool as shit things.
1- a bag my wife wants that was in my office
2- my youngest kid chatting with Jim Starlin while working with him
3- same kid after the line dies down
4- my oldest kid getting her picture with Steven Ogg

Are you ready for East Coast Comic Expo this coming weekend in Moncton, NB? Hope to see you there Friday night and all day Saturday, but… @montrealcomiccon.com is in just three weeks!
So, in honour of my first #montrealcomiccon as Comic Guest Coordinator, I changed my watch face in anticipation. :)

Picked up a couple of new Captain Canuck T-shirts yesterday. Looked around for these for a few weeks.

Jamie and I like to guess what each new Jeopardy player does for a living. It’s a fun side game for us. There are a large number of lawyers, teachers and librarians that come through the Alex Trebek stage. This is the first time “Leader of the X-Men” came up.

Loved the event last weekend. It was the 3rd @backissuescomicon.bsky.social to take place and not only was it fun, packed with great comics, collectibles and art, but it was double the size of the previous two events!
Were you there? Give Back Issue a follow and I hope to see you at the next one.
April 13, 2025 at 12:44 PM
Save the date in your calendars because Back Issues is back again on APRIL 5th, 2025! Same time/same location (the Parish Hall at 61 Dundas Street in Dartmouth)!
This is going to be an expansion year, so don't miss out! Please like, follow and share with your friends. www.backissuescomiccon.com

I have a need to buy comic collections so I can search them for any good stuff. Sometimes I luck out and there is actual good stuff. Other times I end up with more to add to the “where am I going to put all of these regular comics?” boxes.
Anyway, latest has a big book & some early 80s X-Men keys.

My kidployee spent weeks sorting about 8-10 short boxes into 4 loosely packed long boxes that were already alphabetized. Ended up with the equivalent of 8 packed long boxes of $cheap$ comics to take to the next comic book show or maybe I’ll just sell the whole lot at once to someone local. 🤷‍♂️

I cleaned this one a bit before the pics, but it was already in pretty clean shape. This is before and after a press today. #comics

Pretty bad condition. I had started to give it a very light cleaning before the photo, but just a little less than a quarter of the cover page. Looks much improved now. #comics

This is one of the worst condition comic books that I’ve made an attempt to return to some iota of its original condition. It was apparently much loved/read.
Can’t remove the stains, ink, scuffing, permanent colour breaks and creases, but it does seem improved. #comics

Like to give my buddy @edbrisson.bsky.social absolute props on the first issue of #alphaflight it was a master class in storytelling. I urge you to read it through and then read it again. You’ll see what I mean.

Bought a cardboard box of not bagged, not boarded, old comics Friday evening. Turned out to have nothing but newsstand issues, most of which are CPVs (Canadian Price Variants). Found a few gems in the bunch too.

My wife added some new art to our home.

These steaks are so tiny. Roughly one to two toonies at the widest point. They’re so small, I’m basically a vegan now.
