A reminder that many of us are still doing our version of resistance work to support vulnerable communities.

Switching up my timeline with a picture of our garden bed tomatoes from our community center! Staying positive this week has been rough.

From The Cheech Marin Museum of Chicano Art & Culture. Seems fitting giving the current times.

We should never have to have this sort of action. Help us bring awareness to the missing and murdered and Indigenous women. Please share widely.

AZ folks need help!

I had a lot going on this last week. I am thankful I have some little moments of fun amongst the very serious and scary issues we’re facing right now.

I often ask myself if I have the energy for it all & I find it’s what actually helps drive my passion for community advocacy.

Let’s use our economic power! No buying stuff from large chain companies today!

Last week I had the honor of being one of the speakers for a new Devin Booker bball court for the community. The court sits at a location where our rec center is. It’s in these small moments of joy for our youth and families that remind me to keep pushing thru the crap we’re facing right now.

Today was a good day for bringing in good vibes, gathering strength from the full moon, being in community and of course smudging with Copal. We have to tap into our collective strength!

Okay where are my Kendrick Lamar folks!? Let’s talk about the symbolism of the Super Bowl Halftime performance. Did you notice what he said at the very beginning when he started?

For my birthday yesterday we did dinner at Rustlers Rooste. It’s a cowboy themed spot. I just wanted something diff& where there was a nice view of my city. I did some gardening in the morning at work, I got a nice bday cake at work. It was a lovely day and dinner with my family was the best part.

This week, we held a Noche De Lotería y Tamales night and it was a lower turnout of community families. I insist on continuing to push on and not let fear dictate our lives. Whether it’s 10 folks or 30, we will continue to provide a safe space for folks.

I was recently asked what are the base ingredients for my salsas. I try to make a fresh batch every week and experiment.
Here’s the list:
Roma Tomatoes
Chile de Árbol
Chile Serrano
White Onion
Garlic
Tomatillos
Roast on a skillet with a bit of neutral oil. Then blend, add salt to taste. Enjoy!

In my morning cleaning and cleansing rituals today I burnt some Copal & smothered around my home. I take my burner & sometimes blow it to my neighbors house. He’s an older single gringo who is wheelchair bound & super nice. My other neighbor, well they can kick rocks & have the day they deserve.

Good morning, buenos días! My folks are visiting us in AZ from Mx & they us brought coffee amongst the goodies. It smells so damn good. We’ll see how long they can stay to visit. If the situation continues to get crappy here during their visit, it’ll be better for them to go back sooner.

When I hear some of the vile that is coming out of people’s mouth about these vulnerable communities. It’s comments like these that help us keep moving forward and advocate for for them. I am not a faith-based person in the Christian sense but I will take all the “God bless you’s” that I can get.

Buenos días! Funny story to switch up the algorithm. I was contacted by some of my Latino community members yesterday because there were drones writing something in the sky. These folks got scared since we’re all on edge. Couldn’t tell what it meant.
Turned out to be a Hulu show marketing ploy lol

You don’t get to love our food and not our people. No more tacos for these racists a-holes! You don’t get to enjoy our flavors lol Also, these fried tacos with shredded beef were da-bomb this week!

Buenos días! Yea, let’s make it a good day damnit. For any of you in the Tucson area. Please go visit this local Modern Mexican Botánica shop called, Yolia. Get yourself some nice wellness herbs and maybe a cleansing too! Let’s sage this mo’fo lol

Familia, it was not too good out in these Phoenix streets today. My community is very scared. What do we say to our kids? Most of our Latino families are mixed-status. I did find nice graphics from our homies at Aliento. Let’s hope local law enforcement and our AZ superintendent stands up for kids.
