I'm an Odie's guy, but I saw this technique to tint the curl first, sand off, then finish with Osmo. I've never tried it, but I'm looking forward to it. Building a small cabinet with curly maple and cherry.

I've done some relief carving, but nothing on such a big scale. It is rough on the hands, but zen for the mind.
