It did not crash on launch, so it might be unrelated, but I have been playing Tears of the Kingdom almost every day for the past month with no crashes, and the day I updated to 20.1.0, it crashed at 2 different points during gameplay. Unsure if 20.1.1 fixed that particular issue, but so far so good.

There's a rumor that Nintendo isn't offering as much variety in cartridge size to 3rd party developers, the only options being a very small cart or a full sized 64GB one.
If that's actually true, then it's no wonder. It wouldn't make financial sense to put Bravely Default on an expensive 64GB cart.

Corrected me if I'm wrong as I'm not Canadian, but while this is obviously a disappointment, I assume this was also somewhat expected, right? I know video games are almost always more expensive up there.

Joking aside, that's absolutely wild to me. Especially as I know how big a fan of vgm you are! Surely that's at least one aspect of XC2 that stood out to you even if nothing else did?

As someone who has only played Xenoblade 1 and 2 (with plans to play X and 3 in the nearish future) this is interesting! If Gears is above 2, then does that mean it's also fantastic or that you just didn't like 2 very much?

You're so right! It's actually relatively common for games to just stop being talked about (on a mainstream level) by the time a week or two has passed after they've released. And tons of games out there could easily be someone's favorite even if it isn't an overall fan favorite
