annoying when there’s multiple words that I have to look up in order to even start

Mariners receive: Wili Castro and Griffin Jax

If the Phillies are still trying to trade Alec Bohm, what do you think they would be trying to accomplish in trading him and how can/do the Mariners line up with those goals?
January 27, 2025 at 10:00 PM
We’ve heard of mutual interest between the Twins and Padres (Vasquez and Cease). Could the Mariners work their way in as a 3rd team offering prospects and get something(s) nice while helping one or both teams clear a little payroll?

If the Cardinals aren’t able to move Arenado, do they revisit trading other players like Donovan, Nootbar, etc. that the Mariners might have interest in?
January 20, 2025 at 2:47 AM
Are there any Gregory Santos and/or Luke Raley (available pre-arb players at areas of need) comps this winter?

Last off-season Cody Bellinger and Matt Chapman waited until February 24th and March 1st respectively to sign. If the Mariners are truly waiting on Bregman’s market, what happens if he waits that long? Will the M’s or the market make a pivot or will they wait it out?

Austin Shenton: Mariner.
Noelvi Marte: Mariner?

Names are coming off the board left and right with Kim and now Lux no longer as options. Is there a universe where the Mariners pivot to signing a higher priced free agent like Ha-Seong Kim or even Alonso/Bregman and then bring either very cheap veterans (Iglesias, Moncada, etc.) or calk it good?

With the lack of activity and the comments made about only trading Castillo if it makes them better (as they should) it could be argued that Dipoto is not acting in desperation. Do you think this is a reflection of Dipoto’s job security or is it just a result of a shoestring budget and this market?

Looking at the 2025 Mariners schedule, what is the Mariners most challenging month? What is their easiest? What will their record be in those months?
January 6, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Anyways, I know they never were going to try but dang is it frustrating to see practically perfect fits for the teams needs get completely ignored because they are going to get compensated fairly for their talent. Maybe some day this nightmare will end but until then, hate the cheap owners and GOMS!

Sure, no guarantee that you’d get him but why keep yourself from even trying? You can’t say you’re trying to win in a competitive window if you don’t even try on any players who make any money. Guess what players make the most money? The good ones! You can’t just hope everything goes right.

And all of that is not even to mention his clubhouse presence or the lack of basically any depth at the position internally (maybe Emerson in ‘27? Or Williamson but he doesn’t feel like an everyday player). Getting one everyday good player at a position for 6-8 years would do wonders.

He’s honestly exactly what you need. Doesn’t strike out. Hits for both power and average well. Has had a good OBP traditionally. Sure he’s 30 and will fall off in the last 1-4 years of his deal but who will care if it brings success now? He gives you offense and defense and is a solid 4win player

My final thought on this thread is actually a trade idea. Divish has said multiple times that this is a player that the Mariners really like so if they were to make a pivot to acquiring an outfielder:
Collin Snider, Harry Ford, and Logan Evans for Kerry Carpenter. Thoughts?
December 26, 2024 at 6:17 AM
If the Mariners early ideas for trades for infielders (Bohm, Hoerner, Casas, etc.) and free agents (Santana) have fallen through, could a pivot be acquiring Luis Robert Jr? The White Sox asking price still seems to be too high but we know they extensively scouted the M’s minors over the summer.
December 26, 2024 at 6:14 AM
If the M’s find themselves without a chair in the 1st baseman market, could they settle for Raley at first and pivot to giving that money to a veteran 4th outfielder?
December 26, 2024 at 6:10 AM
Seeing as it seems to be Turner or bust on the 1B market for the Mariners, are you more confident in settling for a Moore/Bliss/Young platoon at 2nd/3rd or Raley as a full time 1st baseman? (I know he hasn’t look great at 1st yet but at least there’s some depth internally there)

Hi Ben! Happy Holidays! Hope that you’ve had a great week so far! I have a few somewhat interconnected questions that I’ll ask. Feel free to answer/not answer whatever ones you choose. Thanks as always for the great content!

Harry Ford, Michael Morales, and Collin Snider to the Tigers for Kerry Carpenter.
December 16, 2024 at 5:55 AM
What do you make (if anything) of the Mariners being linked to several different First base options (Alonso-I don’t believe this one, Walker, Bellinger) while also being heavily expected to bring back one of Turner/Santana? Do they think of Turner/Santana as more of a DH than a platoon 1B?
