Unlocking the Secrets of Ancient Estuarine Deposits
In recent months, I had the opportunity to work on a project analysing subsurface data from a rock sequence previously interpreted as the product of an estuarine depositional environment. The client s...

The attempted mugging of a visiting president was about the world war that Musk, Trump, and Vance have chosen. If we attend to what Vance and Trump said yesterday, we can work our way to the unreason of American policy, and to the chaos that will follow.

We also study continental depositional systems. The more area of exposure, the better. These are exposures from the Morrison Formation (USA). Up to 250 m of vertical sequences continuously exposed for kilometres. During data collection we usually observed single and multi-storey channel-fills.

The value of outcrop analogues. We are experts in reading and interpreting channel-fill, overbank or mass transport deposits from a deepwater system. These intrachannel conglomeratic sandstones in Turkey show plant remains, nice ripples and ichnofrabrics. They are part of a km wide canyon-fill.

Sediment routing systems: submarine sedimentary systems are controlled by a range of processes that occur in a wide range of time and spatial scales. The Banderas system is one of them. Here, climate and tectonics seem to control the resulting sedimentary architecture of the final deposits.
