Tout au creux du cratère de profondes chansons
Émanaient de la terre, pourchassant les saisons,
C’est que l’antre au fin fond des entrailles terreuses,
Grand domaine rocheux hanté par trois fileuses,
Trouvait en son sommet le son d’un autre cœur,
Sa figure ombrageuse veillait dans la douceur,
Or la grotte chantait, sentant la grande mère
Agripper ses doigts fins au bois de la cuillère,
Remuant sans relâche dans un souffle savant,
Ce qui boue dans le sein de son chaudron vivant,
Sa main fouillait son dos, remontant la racine
Qu’elle arrachât d’un coup quand trembla l’officine,
Pour l’offrir au bouillon qui eut tout englouti,
Donnant tout de son corps, n’étant plus que l’outil,
Qui œuvrait depuis l’âme à tenir l’amplitude
D’une vie qui grouillait dans son ingratitude,
Elle allait à touiller dévouée qu’elle était,
Elle la généreuse ne gardait ni n’avait
