I was just at a small library museum in the Alsace Region of France yesterday where they have an exhibit about the German occupation during WWII. There was an active effort especially to indoctrinate the children. That was one of the display cases at the exhibit (with translation).

The right wing AFD doubled their overall numbers from 10%last time to 20%this time. The US support (shown in blue below) is strongest in the former East Germany. The line below is quite striking, following along the path of the former iron curtain.

The states of the former East Germany all went for the AFD (in blue)

Unfortunately, the right-wing extremist AFD Party (in blue) doubled their numbers. What is striking (but not surprising) is the distribution, basically following along the line of the old iron curtain, with former East German states going for the AFD.

In spite of the chaos, life itself remains beautiful. Happy #FluorescenceFriday 🧪

Another long week is behind us. Thankfully, that means it is time once again for #FluorescenceFriday 🧪

STED super resolution confocal image of control cells stained for alpha tubulin, showing details of filaments circling the "black holes" of the nuclei.

It's been a rough week for a lot of us. Therefore, what better time for a nice image for #FuorescenceFriday

Super resolution STED confocal image with nuclear pores in red and golgi complex in green. Actin fibers visible in blue. Pixel size is 20 nm. Image taken by my colleague @f-dit.bsky.social

I believe that they would have quite a bit to say about all of this if they were able

Standard fluorescence microscopes are typically limited to 5-8 colors. Multiplexed microscopy allows combining many more markers on a single sample. One area of research where it is very helpful is immuno oncology, to identify immune cells which are active in tumor cell killing. #FluorescenceFriday🧪

Felt like we were living in a cloud all week. Took the chance today to catch some sun up above all the fog. 🙂

Dendritic cells are antigen presenting cells, capable of activating lymphocytes during the immune response. This is a dendritic cell, displaying its beautiful, spiky dendrites. The cell has taken up test antigen(green dots). The nucleus is labelled in blue. Happy #FluorescenceFriday 🧪

Digital PCR droplets after amplification of a control sample (in this case sequences to detect the BRAF V600E oncogenic mutation).
Green droplets contain wild type DNA, orange droplets the mutant sequence, and yellow droplets contain both wild type and mutant sequences. 🧪 #FluorescenceFriday
