Georgia has always been Russia's testing ground. From secessionism to embargoes and outright invasion,

the current takeover is actually a step further, it's what Russia aims to do with Ukraine eventually.

Helping Georgians means crushing Russia's playbook for the future.
My heart aches for those Belarusians and other exiles who came to Georgia for shelter, only to end up under another Russian-backed consolidating dictatorship with 0 regard to their well-being… forced to move again…

On this day 22 years ago, the Rose Revolution happened in Georgia.

Its ideals of a modernized state and building European democracy clashed with the (post-)Soviet corrupt and crony elites, who had their revenge in 2012 through installing the Georgian Dream, now the dictatorship in Georgia.

Two days ago, the regime police in Georgia arrested a man over squeaking a chicken toy towards the police.

So, yesterday, many people brought these chickens to do the same.

The Georgian Dream regime crossed a new line: they’ve arrested a journalist while he was working. TV Pirveli’s Giorgi Mamniashvili is now in holding. Previously, detained journalists were released quickly — seen as a clear warnings to the press.

“Russia wants peace.”

Oh, really? Why didn't it want peace in 2022?

Because Russia only asks for "peace" when it gets its snout beaten.

Please just watch this. Protesters simply march through a narrow street, and the regime police rushes in to abduct Mariam Mekantsishvili, a young single mother. Simply for protesting.

Having striped the diaspora of voting rights, the Georgian Dream officials state things like “when German officials tell you to vote against the Georgian Dream, what are you gonna do then??”

So-called Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili spoke of Michael Roth as an example.

"Bro, what are you in jail for?"

"I squeaked a rubber duck at the police."

... Georgia, 2025

In Georgia, people are now being arrested for… wait for it… squeaking a rubber duck at the police.

According to journalists on the ground, this is the only apparent reason for the arrest of Vano Skhirtladze at tonight’s protest.

Day 358 of nonstop protests.

Just grabbing random protester women and arresting them.

Why?

Because protesting is now a crime.

In Georgia, people now have "when they arrest me, publish this photo for reference" photos.

13+ protesters were arbitrarily arrested this evening. I’m not even sure what the “formal reason” was.
