Tiger beetle, Cicindela hybrida. Here I have attached a dorsal view of the beetle for you to have a better reference. The brownish appearing beetle becomes more colorful the closer you get. A real color boost 🌈

If y’all thought mama oak treehopper with her little nymphs was cute, just look at mama with her young adult offspring. 😍 These brightly colored new adults darken a week or two after emerging to more closely resemble their mama. I like to think of this as their rebellious teenage stage.

With its large eyes and very long abdomen, believe it or not, this amazing creature is a #beetle… a ship-timber beetle (Atractocerus sp.) to be precise.
