**Wallpaper quote is from a 2024 US Election night editorial written by activist & author Rebecca Solnit.
In 2003, they honored Richie Adubato with his own bobblehead doll.

Very sad to hear that. Richie Adubato played such an important role in the early days of the NY Liberty.

Here’s an old picture of Richie Adubato game planning for the 2000 WNBA Finals against the Comets.

Kym Hampton is looking over their table while Joan Jett is talking to one of the coaches.

“Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is currently on sale for $2.99 at multiple US ebook vendors.

The story is about two 1980s era female astronauts who fall for each other and it focuses on the misogyny and homophobia which was prevalent in that time period. It’s emotional and full of feelings 🌈📚💙

The Keeper of Magical Things by Julie Leong is a perfect escape - a cozy feel-good fantasy which includes a sweet sapphic romance. With similar themes to the island of misfit toys - a tale of finding worth, purpose, & value in our differences. It’s a delightful audiobook narrated by Natalie Naudus🌈📚

THE GIRLS I’VE BEEN by Tess Sharpe

The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes is $1.99 at all ebook vendors. The story includes meaningful commentary on racism, homophobia, family, religion, and immigration. It addresses heavy topics, but they are also balanced by the main character’s snarky inner monologues🌈📚💙
Loved it.

The Illumicrate editions of “The Last Soul Among Wolves” and “The Last Hour Between Worlds” are so pretty!

The YA sapphic romance Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick is $1.99 on Kindle. It’s an important story which explores the sense of isolation and fear that queer kids experience living in small conservative towns. Forget Me Not will leave you with joy and hope, but just be prepared to sob along the way🌈📚

The queer dark noir mystery “Lavender House” by Lev Rosen is $2.99 at your preferred ebook vender.

A 1950s murder mystery that reads like the game “Clue” but with an all queer cast. The story doesn’t shy away from how difficult it was to be gay in that time period. A very good book (and series). 🌈📚

I loved The Last Soul Among Wolves (Echo Archives 2) by @MelissaCaruso.bsky.social. The audio narration by Moira Quirk was excellent too.

The story is a blend of Indiana Jones and Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None - a rollicking action packed adventure which features sapphics with swords🌈📚

⭐️ Murder by Memory by Olivia Waite is on sale for $2.99 at your preferred ebook vendor.

A charming short novella with a good mix of science fiction and cozy mystery - it stars a sapphic lead and includes an all queer cast.

I loved the audio version - the narration by Blair Baker was excellent. 🌈📚💙

I was a Liberty season ticket holder for the first 14 years of the league and also traveled to a few of the road playoff games. Here is a picture of legends Sue Wicks, Vickie Johnson, and Tari Phillips taken in Houston after the 2000 Liberty/Comets finals.

I also saw “the shot” in person in 1999!

“The Tell Tale” by Clare Ashton is currently only 99 cents on Kindle.

A sapphic historical mystery that is very atmospheric, a bit creepy, foreboding, and so well written. It also includes meaningful social commentary while the twists and turns make it a page turner too.

Such a good book!

“Light From Uncommon Stars” by Ryka Aoki is currently $2.99 at your preferred ebook vendor.

A hopeful story which shows the power of community and found family. It’s whimsical, quirky, funny, sad, emotional and heartfelt.
I loved this book.

I have many good memories of those early years. We even flew out to Houston during the finals and watched Teresa Weatherspoon hit “the shot” (September 4, 1999). T-Spoon took a picture with me on that day and she signed it for me afterwards.

I still have that game ticket too!

I have a shoebox filled with my old Liberty tickets.

This is my ticket from the very first Liberty game played at the Garden, June 29, 1997. Now you can’t even buy a seat in the rafters for that price.

We sat in a great section. I loved going to those games!

Great article! Some of my friends played in the early years - on that 1976 Olympic team and the WBL. I was also a Liberty season ticket holder for the first 14 years of the league. I have lots of memorabilia from the inaugural WNBA but going back further I have this from the WBL New Jersey Gems!

I was lucky enough to win in the UK Trans Rights auction a signed copy of LADY EVE’S LAST CON by @RebeccaFraimow.bsky.social

It’s a very entertaining sapphics in space romcom. Mystery, action, witty banter, & a sapphic romance - a very fun read.

It’s the perfect escape from doomscrolling.

It’s not photoshopped - it’s just from a better timeline! I have the same framed print hanging in my house.

It’s from the night of June 26, 2015 when President Obama draped the White House in rainbow colors to celebrate the Obergefell v. Hodges Supreme Court decision legalizing same sex marriage.

Apple Books has ALL of the audiobooks in the Murderbot series by @MarthaWells.com on sale.

⭐️Murderbot is a snarky, ace, agender, autistic, badass who just wants to be left alone so that it can watch it’s favorite videos all day 🌈📚🚀

The audiobooks’ narration by Kevin R. Free is also excellent.
