Nescafé does this "clásico" version that my local grocery carries in the "ethnic foods" section. Not only is it better coffee than the one in the coffee aisle, it's also slightly cheaper.

Good!
I got out for half a mile at lunch today. Not enough, but the wind was wet and raw and half the sidewalks aren't yet cleared. Maybe more tomorrow. (I need just over 7.5 miles to finish my 500 for the year.)

Jamaican Me Crazy from Door County Coffee & Tea, brewed pour-over, plus milk. A low-acid dark roast, round in the mouth, aggressive rum and vanilla aromas that mellow to nice buttery flavors. Sort of a "who says I can't have dessert with lunch?" kind of brew.

Lock and Dam #11 from Verena Street Roasters in Dubuque. It's my daily; a nicely balanced medium roast that doesn't have to be brewed strong to be flavorful. (And fortunately, reasonably priced - I go through a pot a day.) With a bit of lactose-free milk today for a treat.

This week's postcards are thank-yous going to the six Members of Congress who released the "Don't Give Up the Ship" video.

They have earned their courtesy title of "Honorable."

From 1959: "Teenagers From Outer Space." Surprisingly good acting and decent dialogue rescue a thin plot. The special effects look cheesy now, but - with the exception of the prime alien villain - weren't bad for the time.

Kenosha held a sticker design contest in the city schools. Not surprisingly, winning designs included WI cheese and our iconic lighthouse and downtown trolley.

NGL, my heart is so full it's running out of my eyes.
Just got back from vacation with my daughter. She posted this.
...I must have done something right along the way...

Local "No Kings" protest pulled in probably 300 people. PD present but chill, not in heavy tactical/riot gear, more directing traffic than anything. No counter-protesters, a few birds flipped and engines revved from passing vehicles. Felt like a festival instead of a protest.

Out of curiosity I searched for Lodwick in my local library's app and found this, release date shown as 2018.

I am living for Cat-Sky these days, because I just can't face reading what's going on in the rest of the news right now.
Pic of my elder grandcat, Pixel, to feed the feed.

12/24: I don't cook as often as I used to, and it shows all too frequently in the results.
This one, however, was perfect. Tri-tip roasted with carrots, potatoes, onions, celery; a glass of Shiraz to accompany, then coffee and a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie later for dessert.
Happy 60th to me.
