I love blender, it's free, sufficient enough and it's been definitely used for bigger projects, but the program itself doesn't come with everything you need if you're making a big project, there's a lot of features missing from stuff like maya that can only be replaced with lots of paid extensions

and that's how most other alternative software is, except not all of them have the huge community support that something like blender have to cover some of those missing pieces, and just in general it sucks that those programs that work perfectly fine get discontinued for no reason other than greed
