It can also be seen on the cover of the book, @coversbyaura knew exactly how to integrate it into her own masterpiece!

And that’s about it, haha. Needless to say, I had the best time working on this and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity!

I hope you all like this too! 🤗

Last, but not least, I wanted to inlude Kolis again, but this time in his shape-shifted form: a golden hawk. Due to his obsession with Sotoria, his claws are extended towards her as if to finally grasp her.

The diamond is placed closer to Sotoria to hint at the role it’s going to play in the end, of how it would hold her soul.

I also wanted to include the Star Diamond; my initial design of it was a little more irregular than this, but due to how small it is compared to everything else in the artwork, I made its 8 points more prominent.

‼️Spoilers ahead‼️

…at how in this book we see great emphasis on Sotoria, how she and Sera co-exist, how they are so very connected, transcending time. This is why they are placed opposite each other, in an imperfect mirror image, with Sotoria’s silhouette being more translucent, glowy.

I still wanted our protagonists to be present (and for us to see Ash’s arm band, it was hidden in the other two artworks), but I also wanted to allude at…

I think narrative-wise, this is my favourite endpaper artwork. There were many scenes I wanted to illustrate from this book, but in the end I leaned more towards something more symbolic, at least in my opinion.

Like before, @coversbyaura did such an amazing job with the cover’s design and integrating these crowns into her vision; it was such a joy to see her work her magic!

I think I had the most fun with Sera’s crown; the spires, the crescent moons, the little diamonds, the chains, all of it just made me dream of someday wearing something like this!

Working on them marked a new milestone in my art career since I decided that for the very first time I would sculpt the base of my work in 3D (I will try to post a reel showcasing the 3D models the following days).

All in all, I both wanted to finish this project soon so that I could see the final result, while also wanting it to last forever because I had an amazing time working on it.

I hope you all like this scene too! 🤗

If I had to pick my favourite things to draw in this piece, I would have to say the clothing (especially Sera’s dress), and, of course, the crowns! Their process marked an entire new chapter in my creative career for numerous reasons (will explain more in tomorrow’s post).

Needless to say, though I loved illustrating all the endpapers, this one has my heart as even when I first read this scene, my heart was pounding and I had the biggest smile on my face! Such an emotional moment!

Thank you so much!! Yes, so do I, would absolutely adore a replica!

Jennifer L. Armentrout has such a talent for describing the beautiful items her characters use, I admit I highlight every single one whenever I read her books because…well, my hope is to someday actually own some replicas of them, haha!

This dagger can also be seen on the cover of the special editions of A Shadow In The Ember. It was the first time I collaborated with another artist for this kind of project. @coversbyaura is so talented, I am in awe of the cover, slipcase and edges that she designed for this entire series!

P9. This year, I promised myself that I would try to connect with my LOTR family more; so if you are a Tolkien fan, let me know!
