Things are scary enough for us. We have a “before” context that sharply contrasts with it all. I feel for the young ones coming up in all this. This is their normal. They don’t have a felt sense of, although not perfect, of structural norms. How will they turn out?

It's been a extraordinary horrific week among a steady diet of horrific weeks. Hang on people. Take relief in your local life; your sanctuary, your creativity, your people, your pets. Hang on to them tight.

To hone my voice, I read everything, from books to cereal boxes, three times: once for fun, the second time to learn something new about the writing craft, and the third time was to improve that piece.
