Well, the switch wasn't that hard considering there had been a 10-year hiatus between the last time the used pesetas on the show and when they started to use the euros 😅. I guess it was a bit weird, but not too much.

...the more words you got right, the more you earned. There must have been other challenges, but this is something that someone older than me would answer better than me 😂.

Apart from Ruperta, the show had other mascots, but she was the longest-running of them (and, therefore, the most iconic).

I can't tell you much about it from personal experience because I only watched a bit of it during its last run circa 2004, but the most recognisable game was one on which the contestants had to name as many words related to the suggested topic. Each word had a fixed value in money, so...

Here's a compilation of the themes the show had during its 10 different eras from 1972 to 2004:

Yeah, but that's how life works. Unfortunately, we aren't immortal 😅. The good thing is that we can share our memories and anecdotes with our virtual families, as you said.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me that ITV relaunched the show. Would you watch it if that happened?
November 17, 2025 at 5:37 PM
Why sadly? You enjoy something you liked and got the chance to enjoy it with other people before today's entertainment choices became so atomised that it isn't that easy to find something that other people around have also watched. 😀

As I mentioned, I haven't paid attention to the show except for its value as a cult show. I was raised with other game shows and contests 😅. This is more from my parents' generation. I also know other people older than me who remember it fondly.

Not that different from us, then 😂. Cars and the good-old apartment in Torrevieja were the cliché prizes, especially during the 70s and 80s, but I guess there were smaller prizes too.

Yeah, I guess you'll be able to understand what it's all about. As it happened with many content around the world, not all of the early episodes have survived because the tapes were reused, but you'll have quite a few to choose from, anyway. Enjoy them 😀

Well, I hope you liked it. I wonder what kind of prizes they offered on the British version...🤔

Oh yeah. Nowadays, getting even 2 million is a miracle for TV content. I think that only big news events can get to that point.

Ooooh, wonderful! 😀 I guess they made a few changes on the British version not to look like a copy of a foreign show. Who knows? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, it makes me happy that something from my country, especially back in the day, became popular and interesting enough for other countries to make their version.

It seems we're enjoying a nice and peculiar cultural exchange time, haha 😎. It makes me happy that the British audience loved the idea. I'm sure it provided some interesting family moments 😀. Did you watch it back in the day?

However, I'll always be fond of Ruperta (the pumpkin that used to be one of the show's most common mascots during its long run). Maybe it's the only pumpkin I'm interested into 😂.

It makes me happy to know that it also became cherished and legendary in the UK 😀. *feels proud in Spanish*

I didn't see the appeal of the show when I watched it, but I guess it's just not of my generation and, for that reason, I don't have the nostalgic feelings that those older than me have.

Halaaaaaa!
