Ministerial responsibility aside, there's a part of me which thinks that the middle managers at HMRC and the Home Office who signed off on this nonsense (provide a letter from your school to prove you're still there!!) should have their names in the paper too. It's a mendacious, miserable business.

ha I lived in brentford for many years. they have added some nicer stuff since I moved a few miles up the road but La Rosetta should still be dependable for dinner, I reckon. or just potter up the river to strand on the green etc.

a little sad he's clearly not gonna do any more seasons, but the last episode has the finest air of finality about it in a way that's kind of rare these days.
