My friend down the street had old, not so great copies of Collier's complete #sherlockholmes in 8 volumes, The Further Adv of SH by Peter Haining, The Uncollected SH by Richard Lancelyn Green, The Exploits of SH by Adrian Conan Doyle. He had Loxley Books in England remake them into this set.😍

We finished the little book nook kit, despite our own limitations and the limitations of the instructions. Far from our best work, but fun, and now a Christmas gift from two years ago is done.

The tiny little #SherlockHolmes and Dr. Watson I’m tasked with painting for the husband’s model project. Wish me luck…🫤

Many thanks to the kind Harrison Terry Hunt for this amazing copy of ACD’s Round the Red Lamp from 1894. Once again #sherlockian friends are the best.

At the airport at stupid o’clock early as directed so I can wait an annoying amount of time to board. I’ve brought a suitably grumpy and often annoying (but brilliant, damn it) man to read.

Hey @jeffdkr.bsky.social -- Did you see this?
(If you hear any strange noises, it is me over here, having a mad fit.)

This is supposed to be an insect of some sort depicted on my new desk pad. But I think it is really a photo of #Cthulhu mad about what’s been written about him in the book he’s reading.

@221bcooee.bsky.social @darlenecypser.bsky.social IIRC, I read a paper discussing how Doyle hardly mentioned his first wife in 'Memories and Adventures.' Seems like there was something about not even using her name. Now is that true? I don't know. This book, now in my TBR, may contain some insight:

Two books I’ve been waiting for turned up this week. Reference + Craft + Entertainment rolled together. 👏

As unrelated as they may seem, now that these are well-read I can begin writing a new collection of Victorian Gothic short stories inspired by the England of #sherlockholmes.

Reading while airport sitting this morning. About 550 pages in. A true master class in the art of short story writing.

Book #5 came to life today. Despite all the craziness in the world, there is still joy to be found in little things like 12 pages of a new manuscript. This FDS lovely piece of art is the inspiration for this book. On we go....

I'm always late to the party. Why haven't I read this before? The book is making me crazy, in the best way--what a brilliant piece of writing.
