Before the horrific cuts to adult education in 2010, for those out of work, sewing classes at FE colleges were about £30/term. I did ones on corsetry and using an overlocker. In terms of the Independent article, I've noticed rising prices on basic staples like canned beans, soy-milk, apples etc. I'm not even *struggling* so eating "healthy" and getting in five a day of fruit and vegetables (the bare minimum!) in a broken system is out of the reach of many many families.
