Screenshot of text: I’ve had this tiger since I was eight years old. For almost a decade, it sat on a shelf in my room, just taking up space. When we got Hayao, he was way too little to be out on his own and he showed signs of feeling the loss of his mama and siblings, so I went looking for something to give him to cuddle with. This tiger was about the same size as he was back then. I brought it down and used it to play with him, and soon enough he was playing with it on his own, and curling up with it for naps. He would carry it with him around the house and would wrestle with it on the living room floor. As he grew up, he eventually stopped playing with the tiger as he surpassed it in size, but I still would put it in his crate for him when it was time to go to the vet, and he would curl up with it. When he started declining, I took out his tiger and spritzed it with calming spray and catnip, and he loved on it while he was laying on the couch those last few days. It still hurts to think about the days when he and Tiger used to be the same size. But it’s something to hold onto.

I could tell he was feeling better in the sense that the antibiotics were helping, but he wasn’t going to get better for real. We had an at-home appointment so he could go to sleep out on the screen porch he loved so much.

Update: after a physical exam and some labs, they sent him home with a UTI diagnosis, antibiotics, and appetite stimulants. I really thought today was gonna be the day. This man is playing with my emotions.

Current state of things. I’m not doing great, lads.

He hasn’t used his box since yesterday afternoon and isn’t eating his regular food. He also vomited at least once that we know of. I was able to call out of work so I’m staying home w him rn. We’re out on the screen porch and I was able to get him to eat some canned tuna with added water, so that’s reassuring, but I’m worried he might be in decline. Update for anyone who cares: My boy is fine for now. We’re adjusting his diet and going back for a consult abt medication options in a few weeks. The other vet who originally gave us the diagnosis can meet me in a waffle house parking lot. Anyway. Here’s a pic I did of him on ceramic w the laser.

I was going to make a post of unhinged things I saw today in a Floridian Mason-owned funeral home, but tbh nothing else I could possibly show you would top the fact that they were charging THIRTY FIVE UNITED STATES DOLLARS for plain glass bottles to put your loved one’s cremains in.
