BREAKING: In a unanimous decision, a federal court of appeals has ruled that Louisiana's law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms is unconstitutional.

We’ll keep saying it: Public schools are not Sunday schools.

After his release from federal custody today, Mohsen Mahdawi delivered a bold message to Donald Trump and his Cabinet: “Let me make this clear—I am not afraid of you.

When Trump decided to transfer management of student loans from Dept. of Education to SBA, right after SBA announced massive cuts, I thought maybe it was a mistake. Now Trump announces increased coal production -- and NIOSH, which protects coal miners, is demolished. A mistake?

Listening to Jeffrey Goldberg talk about Signal today, at the end he said something like "I'm just doing my job, I'm not going to start singing America the Beautiful or Climb Every Mountain..." and now I can't get Climb Every Mountain out of my head and it's making me cry. Thank you, Atlantic.

I try to do five "political" things each week, similar to the DOGE bullet points. So far this week:
Mon: wrote a farewell postcard to Peter Marks, thanking him for his work on vaccines
Tues: wrote a letter to our local paper
Wed: subscribed to the Atlantic!

...what shall I do tomorrow?...

Although it was a terrible choice to make, I support the Democrats who voted for the CR. If the government is functioning, there is a slim chance that the probationary employees who were illegally fired will get to go back to work -- as 2 judges have ordered -- and get paid.

This. Touch grass. Take a few deep breaths. Stream “The Wild Robot” and have a piece of pie. Watch Planet Earth.

We fight again tomorrow. Non-violently. Don’t play yourself.
Anecdotal, but I'm definitely noticing an uptick in advocacy for violence here. About which I'll say only this: Promoting violence on social media is the work of trolls and fools, those eager to bait others into implicating themselves in the age of surveillance or fools rushing to the gulag.

Here are my postcards for #TheIdesOfTrump. (I'll let you imagine what's on the other side.) I'm going to mail them first thing tomorrow morning (March 15th).

If Trump supporters buy up all the Teslas and everyone else starts driving Leafs, Polestars, Rivians, etc., etc. -- isn't that a huge win win for the Earth? I don't see a downside here.

Non Sequitur made me happy today, though I immediately wondered if the strip would be canceled, the syndicate fined, the cartoonist deported, etc., etc.

So many things to respond to in Trump's speech last night, but what I can't stop thinking about is the "only two genders" thing. I'm so worried about trans teens and I don't know what to do to help. Anybody?

Great turnout in support of federal employees at the Department of Commerce labs in Boulder today. But it made me sad, too. Who on earth is opposed to the Weather Service? Strange times.

My letter to the editor of the Boulder Daily Camera was printed on Saturday. You're allowed one letter every 30 days, so I have "write a letter to the editor" on my calendar for March 31st.

There are a lot of people sitting at home in front of their screens, saying “I’m horrified by DOGE and the US descent into fascism, but what can I DO?” Every example of someone fighting back can inspire others. People need to be able to recognize opportunities for political participation.

Just emailed Boulder City Council to ask them to move the police and fire department off X/Twitter and onto BlueSky. Maybe if enough people make this request, something will happen...

"We're bloated. We're sloppy. We have a lot of people that aren't doing their job." Is Trump describing the federal government -- or himself and his Cabinet?

Love reading about what people are doing with OPM's email address: not just sending in their 5 bullet points, but subscribing them to Renewal by Anderson emails, Scientology, the NAACP, Red Lobster, etc.

They always say Trump loves strongmen, but he despises Zelensky, one of the strongest men living today.

Sent OPM (HR@opm.gov) my 5 bullet point accomplishments from last week (attended protests, called my senator, wrote a letter to the editor, etc.). I haven't been so productive in a while.

"Rich people are careless. They break things." David Brooks, misquoting F. Scott Fitzgerald on the PBS NewsHour and the NY Times, referring to Trump, Musk, Vance, Vought, etc., etc.
