I think this is covered in the paper, but the result is not completely counterintuitive, since price is often (not always) correlated with quality. A follow-up study looking at ways of indicating value/quality would be interesting. Use of offer time limits would also be interesting.

Many commercially available pickles are not, in fact, good for you. They are generally loaded with sodium. Some pickle products are really just brined, rather than fermented. And even fermented pickles might lack the pro-gut bacteria of fermented products if they have been pasteurized.

This totally sounds like a made-up word. It would be nice to have a "Word History" at www.merriam-webster.com. Other dictionaries have suggested that coolth dates back from the 1500s for those who must know.
